New compounds for the prevention and treatment of Leishmaniasis and Chagas’ disease, more effective and less toxic
The invention provides nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds and their metallic complexes, useful as parasitic agents, especially for the treatment of leishmaniasis and Chagas’ disease.
The new compounds are less toxic than the active substances currently used, and have the advantage of being easy to synthesise (a single stage) and purify (by crystallisation). Furthermore, production costs are low.
The research is at the pre-clinical stage. Because of this, collaborating businesses are sought that are interested in jointly continuing the development of the compounds for their commercialisation.
